Residential Substance Use Treatment Programs in BC

Short Term

In-patient programs which offer intensive counselling designed for clients ready to make significant changes to their substance use patterns in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment.

Treatment typically lasts from 35 to 90 days.

Treatment programs are usually accessed through referral. Alternatively, the Alcohol and Drug Referral Line (1-800-663-1441) has a list of Treatment Centres that accept clients without referral. These are usually private pay centres.

Following is a list of approved Treatment Centres in BC. Each has a particular set of eligibility criteria and most require a referral from an authorized agent (e.g., MH&SU Services, physician, counsellor), Note:Sage Health Centre accepts self-referrals.

  • Bridgeway: The Bridge Youth and Family Services, Kelowna
  • Kinghaven Treatment Centre, Abbotsford
  • Maple Ridge Treatment Centre, Maple Ridge
  • Pearsonville House / Recovery Centre, Abbotsford
  • Round Lake Treatment Centre, Armstrong
  • Sage Health Centre, Kamloops

Long Term

There are also Long Term Residential Treatment programs in BC which address co-occurring disorders, restructuring of entire life-style with the goal of eventual community re-integration.

Treatment length varies from 10 weeks to a year, depending on the facility.

A referral is required from an authorized agent (e.g., MH&SU Services, physician, counsellor)
