Public Health Nurse Services

Nurses are an important source of information about health related concerns and issues and how they affect individuals, families and community.

Programs focus on the promotion of health, prevention of disease and injury and protection of the environment.

Services offered at the individual, group and community levels and in a number of sites (homes, schools, care facilities, workplaces, health centres, etc.) and include:

  • Preconception, Prenatal and Postpartum Programs
  • School and Teen Programs
  • Adult and Seniors Programs

Responsibilities also include communicable disease information and follow-up, community health promotion presentations, helping to build healthy public policies and identification of and finding solutions for local health issues.

Referrals to other programs within public health including Audiology, Speech / Language, Dental, Nutrition and Tobacco Reduction.

Centres have a Lending library on health issues.
