Travel Assistance Program
Offers travel discounts to eligible BC residents enrolled in the Medical Services Plan who must travel within the province for specialist or specialty medical services not available in their community and whose travel expenses are not covered by third party insurance or other government programs.
Coordinated by Ministry of Health Services staff who work with private sector transportation companies who agree to waive or discount their regular fees.

Patients must be referred by their physician who will complete a 'Request for Travel' TAP form. An escort, if patient is under 16 or incapable of going alone, may also be covered, with doctor's recommendation.
When the TAP form is complete, person must call 1-800-661-2668, a 24/7 services lineĀ to receive a confirmation number. You must have your BC Care card number and the information provided by your physician on the TAP form.
